About Tram Clock Munich

Munich, Germany, Saturday, July 13, 2013 (daylight savings time), from early morning past midnight

Tram 18, stop Lehel, direction Effnerplatz (St. Emmeram)

The images run at their local time on the day of recording. The moving points on the graphic line represent scheduled arrivals at the stop, which is represented by the midpoint.

On the day of recording, MVG, Munich’s highly reliable public transport operator, needed to work around a large street parade that affected the regular schedule from the afternoon into the night. In any event, this web project is not about a day's tram timeliness, but about people in place and time.

The sound between the tram moments is composed of different loops recorded on the same day.

Because of the size of the 24-hour video file, Tram Clock Munich is best experienced on a desktop computer using a recent web browser with comfortable bandwidth. In the event of viewing issues, please try reloading the site or switching browser.
